[August 15] At 5 p.m. on August 15, the Japanese government ended its call for disaster prevention response due to Nankai Trough Earthquake Temporary Information.
Following an earthquake on August 8th off the coast of Miyazaki Prefecture, which caused no damage in Kyoto since it was more than 300 km away, Nankai Trough Earthquake Temporary Information (Major Earthquake Caution) was issued by the Japan Meteorology Agency (JMA). Nankai Trough Earthquakes refer to earthquakes that occur repeatedly along Japan's southern coastal region roughly every 100 to 150 years. This Temporary Information indicates that the probability of a Nankai Trough Earthquake may be relatively higher than usual over a week from the 8th to the 15th. However, the probability is expected to return to normal after this period. The Kyoto University Clock Tower Centennial Hall, where the conference is being held, is equipped with seismic isolation systems and is designed to withstand significant seismic activity. We will continue to monitor the situation closely and take any further necessary measures to ensure your safety throughout the event.
